SO WHAT'S COMING UP
April 24-This is Earth Day. We have been invited to have a booth in the Copper Q parking lot along with a number of other organizations. So drop by and say "hi" and see what all these fine people are up to. (If you haven't checked out this new store be sure and do so.)
May 1, 8, 15. In conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce, we are going to have bike rides on each of these Saturday mornings. Everyone is invited but our focus is going to be on folks who have always wanted to ride but have a million excuses why they just can't make it. And we are going to attack all of those excuses. From 9:00-10:00, we will have bike mechanics available to do minor adjusting and "fix ups" for free. Chains Required, Blauer's, and Bear Valley Bikes will be having special rental bike rates for that day. At 10:00, we are going to do about a 1 hour very easy ride over a flat course. We want this to be a fun and safe experience for people and hopefully it will get them hooked and involved in biking. Help us by reaching out to neighbors and friends and encouraging them to join us. Remember the pitch is "NO EXCUSES"
May 21. THE BIGGY. Tour of California hits town. And it is a Biggy. Lots and lots of activities and even if you are not a bike person this is going to be a very exciting and fun event. The Foundation has lots of involvement. In particular, we will be hosting a Bike Valet. We hope to encourage people to ride bikes into the area where the race will finish at Snow Summit. We want people to be able to leave their bikes in a safe area and go and enjoy the event. We also will be part of the local expo. If you want to help us out with either of these, drop me a note.
May 22-Tour of Big Bear. The newly formed Bike Club is hosting a bike event that day. It will feature a wide variety of bike rides for road and mountain bike folks. Check out their web site and support this group. Get info at Tourdebigbear.com
A final event we are working on that you might enjoy getting involved with- As you know the heavy winter has left many of our Trails damaged. We are working with the U. S, Forest Service to assist them in doing an inventory of that damage. What this will involve is hiking, biking or on horseback riding trails and documenting damage. The Forest Service has work crews that can then go directly to that area and do the repair work. For this to be a valuable service, this needs to be a well-organized and coordinated effort. This is the service we are going to provide. So if you would like to help with this, please let me know.

The April 24th event at the Copper Q will be a large event with many organization/ presenters. It will also provide the opportunity to see what the hosting businesses have done with recent construction concerning "green building" materials.
Equada Outfitters and Yoga will be there too - come say hello! www.EquadaYoga.com
