Hello Citizens,
Here we are at the height summer in the Big Bear Valley. Of course, the weather's nearly perfect and this season's been no exception. Imagine, that just a few months ago, we were buried in 6 feet of snow!
So, how have you spent your summer so far? What are you doing today? What plans do you have for the summer that remains?
As always, you can take the Poll to the right.

Hi Dr. Karp,
Thank you for your email. I will try and follow the instructions for the "tech-challenged."
We often hear the statement regarding attitude, "Is the glass half empty or half full?" Some say the answer is "yes." I feel there is always a benefit in saying something nice or pointing out the things we have to be grateful for.
An English prof once said to our class, "It's good to lose yourself in a trashy romance novel now and then, but don't make a habit of it." Haha - but I suppose it's another way of saying to stay focused on the positive.
What a mess Bell, CA is going through. Frankly, I find it unbelievable, but I guess it's true.
Have a very nice weekend.
Peace and ciao, David
Summertime?
Being retired, we can enjoy summer (as well as the other seasons) without external pressures.
Open windows at night to capture cool hillside breezes and not worrying about mosquitos! A nice watermelon (seeded) from the Farmer's Market! Waking to sunshine! Finding wildflower displays in the local hills and glens! Watching four young Golden Marmots playing in, and exploring, the backyard! Being able to use the telescope at night without bundling up! Saying 'Hi! to our resident coyote!
Is there something else?

Big Bear Lake City Council
The recent salary scandal in Bell, CA has caused a lot of people who live in Big Bear Lake to ask for full disclosure of City salaries; in particular, those of the City Manager, including all his perks, fees to attend meetings, committee income, housing, etc.
I believe it would also be wise to simply publish all BBL employee salaries. Perhaps nothing is amiss, however, silence could be perceived as an effort to hide from the tax payers disproportionately large wages, not to mention subsequent pension issues.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
